A roof replacement in New Hampshire winter

New Hampshire is known for it’s cold, bitter winters. Thankfully, our homes shield us and our loved ones from all the snow, sleet, and wind while also keeping us warm. But what do you do when you need a roof replacement in the dead of winter? Can it even be done?

Roof Replacement Availability

The good news is that roof replacements are typically available all year round, even in the harshest, coldest climates. Some materials (like shingles) respond better to warmer weather rather as opposed to colder weather, but pretty much any roofing product can be installed regardless of temperature.

The main concern during a winter roof replacement is moisture. Siding and roof shingles both need a clean, dry environment to be properly installed, which can obviously be tricky in the wintertime. Additionally, wet surfaces can be a safety hazard for our installation crew and for you, the homeowner, so expect delays if frequent storms and rain occur during the roof installation.

Emergency Roof Replacements

If your roof is damaged during a storm (for instance, a tree branch falls and penetrates your roof), you'll need your roof repaired immediately. The problem is, the storm is still occurring. In such a scenario, what do you do?

Despite the storm, we both know that this problem cannot wait to be fixed. In this case, our team will rush out to you immediately. We have temporary solutions that can fix your roof until the storm passes. They may not look the best, but they will keep your home safe and secure until we are able to fix it with a permanent solution.

What About Regular Roofing Services?

If you're dealing with other roof issues, like poor insulation or ice dams, they can be a major inconvenience during the winter. Some people think that these issues will just have to wait until warmer weather, but that is not true.

While some jobs may be harder to perform during the winter, we can absolutely still do them. In fact, it's usually a quieter time of the year for roofing contractors, so we should have plenty of availability to fix your roof. Don’t let the cold weather deter you from the roofing work you need!

If you think now is a good time to get some exterior work done, then contact us today. We’ll brave the winter storm to ensure your roof is in great shape!
